This course was developed using the Eduflow LMS. In order to interact with the course an Eduflow account is needed. I have provided alternative exploration options to experience this sample course. Below you will find a video walkthrough of the course. You can find screenshots of select pieces from the final course at the bottom of this page.

Project Overview

Audience

Individuals looking to start their own small business using their own resources and no outside capital investment.

Tools

Canva, Chat GPT, Eduflow LMS

Responsibilities

I developed every aspect of the project from ideation through development.  This course was created through Dr. Luke Hobson's "Instructional Design Institute" as a final project. As part of the project, I worked with a SME to help develop and refine the content for the audience and learning goals.

The Problem

This concept project is for working adults who may be looking to change their careers and start a small business but do not have outside capital that can be invested into their business. Individuals who are seeking to set out on this journey may be in need of guidance and with a myriad of information online; this course was designed working with a SME who had successfully completed this journey with their own business to help others achieve success doing the same thing.

The Solution

After defining what problem I wanted to solve, I created a format which would allow adults who did not have to be in the same physical location to build an online community of adults seeking to make connections and change their career. This course would include coaching from the instructor, a successful small business owner themselves to provide guidance to new learners.

This eLearning solution allows for adults to explore the possibility of starting a small business with their own investments in a risk-free environment before they start spending their valuable and limited budget. It is a reflective and collaborative environment which ensures the adult understands how to view themselves as problem solvers and understand how to best start thinking about focusing their ideas before spending money.

The Process

This course was created following a backwards design model. I met with my SME and discussed what topics would be covered in the course with the assumption that the learner would be starting at square one

Once I had created my learning objectives that would guide my course. I began developing assessments, activities, and types of content which my learners would engage with. I wanted to provide a diversity of styles of content as well as ensure I followed UDL (Universal Design for Learning) principles so that my learners can better access my course content. I also created a course map as well as a course blueprint with input from my SME to achieve this goal.

Revised Learning Objectives

Eduflow - Course Blueprint

With a course map and blueprint created, I designed a rough draft of the course which was submitted for review by my instructor, my SME, as well as my peers. In the Instructional Design Institute we used the Eduflow LMS to build and design a course which was easy for learners to follow and provided a clear layout for them in which to learn and explore, giving them full control of their learning.

The final course provide opportunities for learners to grow together, podcasts, videos, and articles to access the materials. All videos and podcasts also have transcripts for learners to read and download at their own leisure. To assist in the brainstorming process for recommended revisions within the course, I turned to Chat GPT to develop possible situations and scenarios. After refinement outside the program, I reviewed the new options with my SME to ensure they matched the intended vision of the course, final adjustments were made and the course submitted for final review.
